Shirley Scarpetta: After being introduced to the realm of clay sculpture with pottery, Shirley kept pursuing her fascination with three-dimensional art. She presented award-winning work to the Glassell School of Art, the teaching wing of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas. Still wanting to fulfill her passion, she studied under a local artist, where she was finally introduced to the endless possibilities of the versatility and beauty of clay. Shirley now works mainly with the lost wax process in bronze, continuing a tradition that masters have followed to insure their sculpture will stand the test of time. She is equally adept with plaster, resin, concrete and wood.
